Most people associate Varna with its tourist attractions, great beaches, and restaurants. We knew there was undeveloped potential, as the city is a transport and logistics hub, and there is a serious concentration of companies representing the chemical and light industries. The fact that we are operating in a more remote area to the sources of our main raw material, namely timber, made us think innovatively and be extremely responsible with resources.
The difficulties with supply chains, the shortage of timber, and the continuous fluctuations in raw material prices, both in Bulgaria and on the European market, motivated us to think innovatively and differently. We wanted to incorporate all leftover materials and old pallets, as well as use all kinds of wood offcuts and waste.
So we decided to upgrade and implement the technology for the production of pressed wooden pallet logs made entirely from wood chips from residual materials and wood waste. This production of pressed wooden logs for pallets, we define as a local innovation, as it is the first such technological line installed on the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria. Bulgaria.
We have been working on the idea for three years, looking for different opportunities to make it a reality. Thanks to the funding we received from Innovation Norway we gained the courage to complete the development and start production. The support of the Norwegian Financial Mechanism gave us the security but also the confidence we needed. When an organization like Innovation Norway believes in you and you get its support, it is an invaluable asset.
Thanks to the grant from Innovation Norway, we expect to realize additional financial impact for the company. Also to acquire knowledge that will give us a leading position in the Bulgarian market in the production of similar products.
In the spirit of bold dreams, in the long term, we have set ourselves the goal to become the first manufacturer of pressed wooden logs certified under EPAL system and to supply Bulgarian and European pallet manufacturers with a high-quality product of exceptional quality.
With the implementation of the Reviving Residuals project, we will use 30% less raw timber in the production of the product. We are extremely pleased that with the implementation of this new production line, we will continue to enable prisoners to carry out work, acquire knowledge, and in some way contribute to their future integration
